Busy time
Wed. May 25, 2016
It’s been a busy few months in the Bowen household. I’m using this as an excuse or reason for not having written a blog for ages. So apologies to those who have missed hearing about our adventures. Our Easter holiday, seems a long time ago, was spent at home in the main. However, we managed to book a last minute three night stay in St David’s at the Landmark Trusts, Tower Hill. It was so close to the cathedral we could almost touch it. We took the van because Tim combined our holiday with a delivery. We were warned by LT that the parking space was tight. Not one to be deterred by such sensible advice, we managed to take the van down the narrowest of lanes and park it, to the amazement of the lovely lady who lived in the cottage next door. The difficulty of parking incentivised us to go everywhere on foot. We aren’t quite at the stage where we are able to do long walks due to tiredness and grumpiness, the children get a bit fed up too. However we have a lovely day with our friends the Williams’s and their four children, walking, paddling, eating ice cream. Of course visiting the cathedral was essential as was the Bishops Palace. The visitors centre had an exhibition of some of Turner’s work. Never ones to miss out on play park opportunities, our three enjoyed St David’s facilities.
Below, three little angels on the cross of St David’s.Yet another ice-cream break. In between working we also managed a trip to Colby Wood enjoying a chilly picnic in the back of the van. Rain prevented us from climbing up to Dinefwr castle but we enjoyed the house. Megan enjoyed looking at the ornate plaster ceiling whilst Tomi imagined being a great Welsh knight. On one of the sunnier days, we had a nostalgic trip to The Mumbles, enjoyed lunch at Verdi’s and spent a small fortune in the penny slots on the pier.
