Small oak Pembrokeshire cupboard. Sold
The cupboard comes in two parts, the top section has a row of three small dummy drawers under the two cupboard doors, which enclose a single shelf. The base with two rows of drawers with turned mahogany handles and bone and bog-oak escutcheons. With shaped bracket feet.
Similar small cupboards are often found throughout West Wales and are sometimes known as “Carmarthen Coffers”. This cupboard originates from the Whitland/Narberth area and may have been made in Narberth by either Wheeler or HV Thomas who were cabinet makers there in the 19th century.
